Snowboarding Is Lots of Fun
Are you interested in snowboarding, but aren’t quite ready to hit the slopes? Do you want to make sure that you practice as much as you can during the off-season? If you want to be able to get a better idea of what to expect while you’re boarding, or want to perfect your coordination skills, you may want to check out the video game 1080 Snowboarding. This game is a competitive take on the sport, and can even teach you how to perform boarding tricks.
There are five snowboard players competing per game, and you use the controls to execute various moves in order to get to the next of eight levels. There are six modes for each player in 1080 Snowboarding, so you can choose whether or not you want to race with the other players, if you would like to be timed during the game, and how many players you want to race against. When you use the trick modes (trick attack and contest), you’ll receive points for the tricks your player performs, and when you’re in contest mode, you’ll have to display your snowboarding skills while going past flags on the course to gain points.
There are five characters for you to choose from when you’re preparing to play a game of 1080 Snowboarding. There are two players from Japan, one from Canada, one from the U.S. and one from the U.K. Each of the virtual players has different skills and abilities, so one player may be better suited for a certain level of the game, or can perform a certain set of snowboarding tricks with more precision. Each of the players also has individual stats, so that you feel like you’re guiding an actual athlete through the video game.
Nintendo, the makers of the game, did such a great job with making the modes and players of the game realistic that 1080 Snowboarding was awarded the Interactive Achievement Award from the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences in the late 1990s. A sequel to 1080 Snowboarding, which is called 1080 Avalanche, was later released in 2003 for Nintendo Game Cube.
Once you’ve gotten familiar with the video game, you may feel a little more confident when it comes to the actual sport. Be sure to study the moves of the players and find out what your physical strengths and weaknesses are while playing the game, so you’ll be ready, so you’ll be ready to get back out in the snow and show your skills.
